Federal Councillor Albert Rösti has appointed René Dönni Kuoni as deputy to Bakom Director Bernard Maissen. He joined Bakom in 1995 as a research assistant. In 2013, the now 60-year-old economist was appointed Deputy Director and took over as Head of the Telecom Services and Post Division.

After studying electrical engineering, René Dönni Kuoni initially worked as a test engineer for the telecommunications group Alcatel. He then studied business administration at the University of Bern. As successor to Philippe Horisberger, Dönni Kuoni will ensure continuity in the management of Bakom.

Horisberger himself joined Bakom in 1993. Since 2012, he has headed the department responsible for frequency management. He was appointed Deputy Director at the end of 2014. Since 2000, he has led the Swiss delegation to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) World Radiocommunication Conferences on several occasions. Philippe Horisberger will now retire at the end of November 2024.
