According to survey, majority of population wants new national exhibition

According to a representative survey, the majority of respondents welcome the holding of a new national exhibition. The respondents, aged between 15 and 79, want a new "Landi" to improve the cohesion of the different regions and promote the discovery of unknown parts of the country.

According to the survey conducted by the Intervista polling institute, 74 percent of respondents are in favor of holding a new national exhibition. For Christina Hanke, Commercial Director of the NexpoThis result is an important signal: "The support from the population strengthens our conviction that a next Expo, which stimulates discussions about living together in Switzerland, is important and forward-looking, especially in challenging times.

Cohesion of Switzerland and participation of the population

From the point of view of the Swiss population, a national exhibition should pursue different goals. As the analysis of the survey shows, the national exhibition should in particular improve the cohesion of Switzerland (62 percent) and promote the discovery of other parts of the country (61 percent). Less important to the respondents is, for example, image promotion abroad (33 percent). A participatory approach, on the other hand, receives a great deal of approval. People who welcome a new national exhibition particularly want the population to be involved in the design of the national exhibition (79 percent).

Sustainable and climate-neutral national exhibition

Normally, a national exhibition lasts about half a year, after which the Expo projects are always discontinued or dismantled. According to the survey, a clear majority (79 percent) is of the opinion that certain Expo projects should continue after the Expo half-year. The population also wants the next national exhibition to be climate-neutral (83 percent) and, above all, more cost-effective than Expo.02, in which CHF 1.58 billion was invested. According to the survey, every fifth person is even in favor of the next national exhibition being cost-neutral.

Nexpo wants to be oriented towards the wishes of the population

The "Nexpo - the new Expo" is currently in the process of preparing the application to the federal government. "For us, this survey is a gauge in fine-tuning our concept," says Commercial Director Christina Hanke. "We don't just want a national exposition for the public, we want to showcase our Nexpo plan with the population."

The Nexpo is not intended to be an expo on a defined, fenced-in area, but aims to offer around 100 experiences throughout Switzerland that encourage people to think about living together in Switzerland - in cities, conurbations, in the mountains and in the countryside.

Sustainability plays a central role in the conception - both in the projects themselves and in the areas of mobility and gastronomy. Some of the projects are also to be continued after the Nexpo remain as "new landmarks of Switzerland" and thus generate sustainable cultural and tourist benefits for the host cities.

A Memorandum of Understanding regarding a future merger of the organizations would be signed with Expo Initiative X27 in October 22. With other Expo initiatives, the Nexpo in this regard. The Nexpo currently already has numerous partnerships with non-profit organizations and future sponsors.
