Lykke, which is based in Zug, employs around 25 people in Switzerland and a further 80 employees and contractors worldwide. Tamedia would like to support the start-up in expanding its global marketplace offering. At the same time, Tamedia will continue to invest in the fintech sector.

Samuel Hügli, Member of the Management Board and Head of Technology & Investments at Tamedia: "With its cryptocurrency marketplace, Lykke offers an exciting product with great potential. With our investment, we will benefit from Lykke's expertise in the areas of fintech and blockchain and provide the start-up with targeted support in the growth process through marketing, product development and B2C know-how. The collaboration could also lead to the development of innovative offerings for our customers, such as new payment services for Tamedia products." Lykke has over 90,000 registered accounts and a total trading volume of over 1.5 billion US dollars has already been transferred via the marketplace.

Richard Olsen, founder and CEO of Lykke: "We are delighted to have Tamedia on board as a new investor and Samuel Hügli as a member of the Board of Directors. Tamedia is successfully asserting itself as a company in the digital transformation and shows confidence in Lykke's vision with its investment. By working together with Tamedia, we can successfully develop our product further."
