BFU and Ruf Lanz launch "insightful" Black Friday bargain

The BFU uses Black Friday for the sale of light vests for cyclists and e-bike riders. The concept and realization of the measures came from Ruf Lanz.

In Switzerland, more than three million people are on the roads with bicycles and e-bikes. Unfortunately, the risk of accidents also rides along with them. Every year, around 25 people die in bicycle accidents on Swiss roads, and around 850 are seriously injured. In addition, there are more and more e-bike accidents.

To prevent such accidents, visibility on a bike or e-bike is essential. The sooner motorized road users see you, the faster they can react. Neon-colored, fluorescent and reflective light vests are particularly suitable for making yourself visible day and night. According to studies, they reduce the risk of collision by almost 40 percent.

For this reason, the Advisory Office for Accident Prevention BFU has commissioned the Ruf Lanz agency to design a campaign for the wearing of luminous vests.

The first measure makes good use of Black Friday: Under the motto "Buy something you really need on Black Friday", light-up vests are sold for 9.90 francs via banners and social media posts.

Later, a concise poster campaign will follow on around 7000 roadside locations throughout Switzerland. Here, the luminous vests are presented to animals that regularly cross the roads in danger. Because cats, frogs and deer would also be happy if they could make themselves visible with a luminous vest.
