The Covid 19 pandemic has prevented sports fans around the world from attending the games of their favorite teams, including fans of the ZSC Lions. Despite this, over 4,000 fans have supported the club by buying a season ticket. As a thank-you for this special loyalty, the ZSC Lions - in collaboration with Serviceplan Suisse - have produced The Essence of Lions souvenir, made from the melting water of the ice surface at Hallenstadion where the team played during the 2020/21 season.
The vials with the "holy water" were sent to the most loyal fans - and led them to the ZSC-Website. There, a film explained the meaning of The Essence of Lions. At the same time, players and managers made it clear how much they miss the fans this season - and how much they look forward to seeing them again in the new season.
The Essence of Lions also inspired fans to renew their tickets for the next season and continue to actively support the ZSC Lions. And although the little bottles were intended as collectors' items, the club invented many creative uses for the water they contained: from baptizing little ZSC Lions fans, to cleansing rooms of evil spirits, to polishing trophies.
