VBZ presents the first Formula E car in Zurich

Next Sunday, the first Formula E race in Switzerland will take place in Zurich. The international racing series with the electrically powered cars is the green alternative to the Formula 1 circus. Accordingly, the media attention is already great in the run-up.

Ruf Lanz uses the topicality for the VBZ to show the first Formula E bolide that ever drove on Zurich's streets: the electric streetcar Zurich of 1894. Fleet 18 HP accelerated the car to a top speed of 15 km/h (in how many seconds is not vouched for).

Today, Zurich's public transport system carries 80 percent of its passengers on environmentally friendly electric power: that's more than 700,000 people a day. So the people of Zurich rely on electric vehicles all year round.
