Christmas campaign: The secret world of the Migros gnomes

Wirz's Christmas campaign for Migros uses the story of little Finn to remind us that we should never leave anyone alone.

We place our purchases on the checkout belt. A red light flashes, a beep sounds. We wrap up our purchases. But has anyone ever wondered where the red light actually comes from? What's going on under the glass of the checkout scanner? The answer is provided by this year's Migros Christmas film, which opens the door to a magical world in the Migros stores. It tells the story of little Finn, who lives under the checkout scanner and helps the sales staff scan the merchandise.

The little Migros elf watches under the glass pane as customers prepare for Christmas, shopping for decorations and lots of delicious things for the festive season. He, too, now wants to celebrate Christmas. But he quickly realizes that a little decoration is not enough. Christmas is the celebration of being together, of getting together with friends and family. And so we experience how Finn breaks out of his loneliness and finds new friends.

Thus, the touching story underlines this year's Migros motto: "Let's leave no one alone, let's celebrate together." With this, Switzerland's most popular retailer is calling for to donationswith which the charitable partners Caritas, HEKS, Winterhilfe, Pro Juventute and Pro Senectute can help people who feel left alone in our society. "Migros has been committed to the common good since its foundation. Social responsibility is part of our DNA," says Roman Reichelt, Head of Marketing Communications at the Federation of Migros Cooperatives.

Livio Dainese, Co-CEO and Creative Director of Wirz, adds: "The Migros elf Finn reminds us that there are people who are overlooked in their need. As part of this year's Christmas campaign, we're dedicating a story to them while opening the door to an exciting world for young and old."

The story of Finn and his elf friends, who provide a happy ending in the film, is also being continued with a collection promotion in the stores: Six Migros elves are available there as figures to play with, swap and listen to ¬- because each is also equipped with its own radio play. In the course of the campaign, which starts on November 17 and lasts until December 25, Migros is also continuing the fundraising campaign of recent years. The proceeds from the sale of the popular Schoggi hearts, which are available this year for 6, 10 and 15 Swiss francs, will serve as the source of the donations.

The amount collected will be increased by one million by Migros and distributed in equal parts to the organizations Caritas, HEKS, Pro Juventute, Pro Senectute and Winterhilfe Schweiz.
