It was the pioneers of the private company Elektrische Strassenbahn Zürich (ESZ) who put the first electric streetcar line into operation in Zurich on March 8, 1894. The city bought ESZ in 1896. Today, VBZ transports 80 percent of its passengers using environmentally friendly electric energy - around 720,000 people a day reach their destination on modern streetcars and trolleybuses. The proportion of electric mobility at VBZ is to be further increased over the next few years in order to reduce CO2 and noise emissions as well as dependence on fossil fuels.

The original Tesla is currently appearing in double-page and full-page advertisements in 20 Minuten, and later also on posters and on the rear panels of the VBZ Züri line. It is also being distributed on social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).
