Discover recognizes over 5,000 Migros supermarket products by their packaging via smartphone camera: This gives access to 2,000 Migusto recipes, 80,000 real-time product reviews on the Migipedia platform and nutritional values as well as other product information directly from the product - and much more in the future. Most advanced technologies used

Discover uses the smartphone's camera to recognize unique features on product packaging and match them with the product database. In the future, this will eliminate the need to use QR codes and barcodes for product recognition. Once a product has been "discovered," the product name appears on the smartphone screen in a mixed reality visualization, as well as the options and info available around that product, such as matching recipes or reviews. Discover has a feedback mechanism that constantly optimizes the user experience.

Discover for iOS and Android, as well as the associated backend infrastructure for image processing and pattern recognition, were implemented by Futurecom (part of Y&R Group Switzerland) using the latest technology: Among other things, Apple's new programming language Swift and Microsoft's new open source framework ASP.NET Core were used. In addition, essential system components operate in the cloud.
