The emoji are loose

Valencia Kommunikation brings the emoji known from messenger apps to life for a coop promotion.

It's hard to imagine Whatsapp, Snapchat and the like without them, and this year they're even getting their own movie: emoji are currently on everyone's lips. In keeping with this, Coop is now offering 24 of the most popular emoji characters as suction cup toy figures to collect or give away. Valencia Kommunikation is celebrating this promotion in a fitting manner and shows in a TV spot how the emoji are causing a stir at the Coop.

The spot, produced by Boutiq, is a combination of real film and animation. It contains numerous digital and mechanical special effects and was shot in a real Coop store. An animation studio populated the scenes with countless digital emoji, which interact with the film's protagonist. "We took special care to match the action of our little digital actors to the facial expressions and physical comedy of our main character," says creative director Tommy Schilling. The soundtrack for the 26-second slapstick comedy is by HitMill.

In addition, a wide variety of advertising materials ranging from flyers to F12 posters were designed for print and POS communication. The promotion runs from March 6 to April 15, 2017 in all Coop supermarkets, Coop City department stores, Coop Bau + Hobby, Coop restaurants and at coop@home.
