In recent years, the internet has shown many examples of how social media can be used for good or ill. From influencers teaming up to make good things happen, to the example of former US President Trump using social platforms to stir up unrest. Social influencers* have come to the fore in many ways in recent years. It has become clear that, on the one hand, influence means power, but at the same time it also brings responsibility.

The influence of social media and its actors on society is steadily increasing. At the same time, this power, or rather the responsibility that comes with it, is not taken seriously enough, as the lack of clear guidelines around social influencers and influencer marketing in Switzerland shows. This is where Anja Lapčević, CIO of Kingfluencers, and Barbara Fry Henchoz would like to start, and have therefore, together with influencers and experts from various fields, developed the "Conscious Influence Hub. launched. The non-profit association aims to develop common guidelines to promote the values of respect, empathy and transparency in the field of influencer marketing on social media.

The hub works independently of Kingfluencers in terms of content and is intended to function like a think tank. Influencers should be able to ask questions and receive solutions to stimulate conscious behavior in social media and online in general. The multidisciplinary advisory board includes influencers and university professors, as well as people from NGOs and for-profit companies.

According to the agency, one of the association's most important initiatives is the introduction of the Conscious Influence Code of Conduct. The code of conduct encourages influencers to act with respect, empathy and transparency in social media. It is intended to be a tool for all members of the community to act more responsibly.
