The Paul Scherrer Institute, PSI for short, is the largest research institute in Switzerland. It is renowned worldwide for cutting-edge research in the natural and engineering sciences. The Paul Scherrer Institute, or PSI for short, is the largest research institute in Switzerland.

PSI employs 2,200 people and has an annual budget of around CHF 400 million. It is part of the ETH Domain, which also includes ETH Zurich and EPFL, as well as the research institutes Eawag, Empa and WSL. Research at PSI focuses on future technologies, energy and climate, health innovation and fundamentals of nature. Every year, tens of thousands of scientists from all over the world apply for measurement time at one of PSI's large-scale research facilities, some of which are unique in the world.

Comprehensive rebranding for more effective communication

The demands placed on PSI's communication have risen sharply in recent years. After all, in an increasingly complex world, state-funded cutting-edge research must communicate more strongly than ever what it does and how that can benefit society now and in the future. For this reason, PSI's communications team already works in a topic-centered newsroom model. Now the institute's entire presence is undergoing a rebranding to communicate more effectively and intensify its dialogue with society. The assignment to Scholtysik includes brand and communication strategy consulting, the development and implementation of a new brand identity, and the conception of the user experience of PSI's digital channels. The rebranding project is expected to take two years.
