IAB with losses in fiscal 2020

At the General Assembly on Friday, the IAB Switzerland Association drew a mixed balance: The business year 2020 was closed with a loss of -36,298 francs. This was mainly due to the cancellation of all planned events, as well as the almost complete reduction of in-house trainings in 2020. However, it was possible to limit the loss through a rigid savings policy.

Already in the first quarter of 2020, the first bad news for the IAB came with the postponement and eventual cancellation of DEX 2020. Other popular events such as Content Marketing Day, Programmatic Advertising Day and others also shared the same fate.

Online Academy dampened decline

By quickly switching from face-to-face to online training, the IAB was able to minimize the decline in course offerings. More serious was the decline in in-house training, the implementation of which was effectively made impossible by the pandemic restrictions.

Savings course 2020

Already after spring 2020 and the emerging decline in sales, the IAB-Switzerland Association imposed a rigid savings program on itself for the entire year. This led to the fact that the looming loss could be reduced to -36,298 francs and can be covered by the liquidity of the association.

Outlook 2021

In 2021, the association will focus on various growth topics. On the one hand, the IAB will also offer its basic course with the DACH diploma in French-speaking Switzerland for the first time. It will also host a one-day bootcamp on the topic of "Cookieless Future" for the first time and is planning a Social Media Day. On the other hand, the IAB will organize its flagship conference DEX in 2021 in a new setting and with a new concept.
