Music to the ears

On behalf of the Hear the World Foundation, the Zurich-based advertising agency Serranetga has created a prevention campaign that calls on music enthusiasts to appreciate and protect their own hearing more.

Since April 25, song quotes from well-known musicians have adorned the posters, displays and free earplug distribution boxes of the Hear the World Foundation at concerts throughout Switzerland. In the name of the Sonova Holding Foundation, they put the word "hearing" into a new context and thus call on music lovers at concerts, where high dB levels are common, to protect their hearing.

The launch of the new hearing protection campaign was prompted by the German band Unheilig's concert in Zurich's Hallenstadion. The song quote "Sometimes I want to hear everything" by frontman Der Graf adorns the poster. The Count of Unheilig is an ambassador for Hear the World and, as a trained hearing aid acoustician, has been supporting the foundation since 2012. As a prevention partner, Good News, Switzerland's largest concert promoter, enables an efficient approach to the target group on site.

The Zurich-based advertising agency Serranetga is responsible for implementing the prevention campaign. "It has managed to address a widespread and at the same time very sensitive topic without coming across as patronizing," says Elena Torresani, Head of the Hear the World Initiative. "With the song text excerpts from their stars, fans feel directly addressed. This increases credibility and at the same time the motivation to follow the advice."
