Cannes Lionheart Award for Al Gore

The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity has announced that former U.S. Vice President, Al Gore, will receive the Cannes Lionheart Award this year.

Terry Savage, Chairman Lions Festival: "It is an honor to present the Cannes Lionheart Award to a man who has accomplished so much. Especially in terms of his dedication to solving the problem of the global climate crisis." The Cannes LionHeart Award, introduced last year, is an honorary award. It is presented to a person who has made a significant and positive change for people or the planet through the innovative use of his or her celebrity.

Former Vice President Al Gore is co-founder and chairman of Generation Investment Management. He is a senior partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and a member of Apple, Inc.'s Board of Directors. Al Gore spends the majority of his time as Chairman of the Board of The Climate Reality Project, a non-profit organization focused on solving the climate crisis. On January 20, 1993, he was elected the forty-fifth Vice President of the United States. His term lasted eight years. He is also the author of several best-selling books, the subject of an Academy Award-winning documentary, and the co-recipient of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize.

During the Cannes Lions Festival, Al Gore will also participate with Martin Sorrell in the Cannes Debate, which will take place on Friday, June 26, 2015 at the Grand Audi. Their wide-ranging discussion will focus on "Live Earth: Road to Paris" and "The Climate Reality Project," as well as highlight the role of communication in political and environmental campaigns. Al Gore will accept the Lionheart Award in person at the Cannes Lions Awards Ceremony on Saturday, June 27, 2015.
