Red dot Award: Communication design 2012 has started

The competition of communicators and campaigns has begun: As of now, companies, agencies, graphic designers and all communicators in the PR and marketing industries are called upon to submit their achievements to the Red dot Design Award.

Last year, 6,468 communication works were submitted for the Red dot Award: Communication Design. The highlight of the competition is the Red dot Gala, traditionally hosted by the initiator Peter Zec. The award ceremony will take place again this year in Berlin. And afterwards, the winners will be duly celebrated at the Designers' Night.

New categories
The red dot jury evaluates submissions in 21 categories. New entries include "Mobile & Apps" and "Social Media. The newly introduced categories are intended to take account of the continuing advance of digitization.

Time and again, a few stand out from the high-quality submissions: works that captivate the jurors and set real highlights. This is how a few works in a category receive the award Best of the best for the highest design quality. Those who have been rewarded for their performance with the Best of the Best can also hope to win the Grand prix make. It is only at the gala that it is traditionally announced which of the nominated works will be honored with the competition's highest individual award. The bar for this is so high that so far no Grand Prix has been awarded in most categories. Even up-and-coming talents will not go empty-handed within the Red Dot Award: Communication Design. Those who have already secured the Best of the Best also have the opportunity to win the 10,000 euro Junior Prize for the best student work. It is the chance for young creative talents to make a breakthrough in design and convince potential clients of their own skills.

Further the honorary title Client of the year is awarded. This goes to the client who relies to a particular extent on the skills of agencies or its own communications professionals, whose creative designs give outstanding ideas an expressive form. The client of the year is honored for his success, but also for his courage at the gala. For the honorary award Agency of the year you can't apply for. The agency that continuously convinces with above-average design services deserves it.
