Affichage: sales growth in the first half of the year

The advertising marketer Affichage achieved sales growth in its home market of Switzerland in the first half of 2011. On balance, Affichage earned CHF 19.8 million.

Operating profit more than tripled to CHF 25.4 million and Group-wide sales increased by 0.6 percent to CHF 141.9 million. This was announced by Affichage in its letter to shareholders.

Sales in the Swiss domestic market grew by 7.5 percent to CHF 125.3 million, while sales abroad fell by over 30 percent. Affichage parted company with its subsidiary in Greece in the spring, where the company was allegedly even defrauded by its business partner. Affichage also intends to divest its business in Romania, Hungary, Bosnia-Herzegovina and South Tyrol in the short and medium term. Affichage has already sold its majority stake in a poster company in Bulgaria.

Affichage sees a much rosier future in Switzerland than abroad. In its letter to shareholders, Affichage reports on numerous contracts with cities, transport companies and shopping centers that could consolidate its position as the leading urban poster company.
