Publicitas: Advertising agency for Bieler Tagblatt, Journal du Jura and Bijou discontinued

On Thursday, April 14, Publicitas decided on its own initiative to stop placing advertisements for the Biel publishing house W. Gassmann (Bieler Tagblatt, Journal du Jura) as of April 18. The publisher regrets this decision.

Publicitas is thus bidding farewell to neutral universal ad placement and will no longer be able to fully advise and serve its customers. The publisher writes this in a press release. The media of Gassmann Verlag will remain bookable at any time, directly with Gassmann Media.

The reason for the mediation stop is the new, significantly more expensive mediation commission agreement, which the publisher was unable to accept. With this decision, Publicitas is rejecting what the publisher considers to be a correct and fair compromise offer, the press release continues. The new price models and conditions demanded by Publicitas are not economically viable for W. Gassmann's regional products. The publisher fears that these could damage the products and also lead to rising advertising prices.

The W. Gassmann family business in the bilingual Biel - Seeland - Bernese Jura region produces two regional daily newspapers (Bieler Tagblatt and Journal du Jura) and two weekly newspapers in the Bernese Jura (Echo du Bas-Vallon, Le Progrès Courrier). It also markets the advertising combination "Der Zeitungspool Biel-Freiburg-Wallis" through Gassmann Media. The titles Bieler Tagblatt, Journal du Jura, Bijou, Le Progrès Courrier, Echo du Bas-Vallon and Der Zeitungspool will remain available to customers.
