Publigroupe: Publicitas Publimedia and Web2com merge

Advertising marketer Publigroupe is merging two of its subsidiaries. Publicitas Publimedia is being merged with Web2com, a Publigroupe company active in digital marketing. The new business unit will operate under the name Publimedia in the future.

The head of the new unit is 49-year-old Andreas Gedenk, who formerly ran the media agency Zenith Optimedia in Zurich managed. Ueli Weber, previously Managing Director at Web2com, will assume the function of Chief Operating Officer (COO) and become Deputy CEO of Publimedia. Moreno Cavaliere, a long-standing member of the Management Board of Media Sales, will continue as Head of National Sales (Publicitas, Publicitas Publimag, Publicitas Publiconnect, Publicitas Swiss Press and Publicitas Mosse) and as Managing Director of Publicitas Cinecom. He will also be available to the new Publimedia in an advisory capacity.

The merger will not result in any job cuts, the advertising marketer announced on Monday. The new Publimedia will commence operations at the beginning of May 2011 with 35 employees and will present itself on the market with four different service divisions:

  • Media Services: Information, planning, booking and reporting services.
  • Marketing Services: Market analyses, evaluation of customer contact points (touch points), etc.
  • Special Services: Digital conception and production
  • Network Services with access to the services of all Group companies.

The existing services of Publimedia and Web2com will be continued and successively expanded. These include an "AdMarket", an interactive marketplace for advertising space with offline & online offers, interface between supply (publishers and other platforms) and demand (advertisers), which will be launched in fall 2011 as a central service of Publimedia.
