Clear Channel acquires 100 percent of Plakanda

Since February 15, 2001, Plakanda, number two among Swiss billposting companies, has been a 100 percent subsidiary of the US outdoor advertiser Clear Channel (CC).

Since February 15, 2001, Plakanda, Switzerland's number two poster company, has been a wholly owned subsidiary of the US outdoor advertising company Clear Channel (CC).CC acquired 82 percent of Plakanda in 1999, while the remaining 18 percent continued to belong to Plakanda founder Peter Gmür, who remained Chairman and CEO of the company.The complete takeover by CC changes the holding structure of Plakanda: in future, the holding company will only comprise the Swiss business activities in the poster and radio sector. The international activities and holdings will be placed under CC International in London (CCI).
Gmür will remain Chairman of the Board of Directors of Plakanda Holding, which is limited to Switzerland, while Beat Roeschlin, previously General Manager Switzerland, will become a new Board delegate. Other Board members are CCI CEO Roger Parry, CCI COO Colin McConvill and Arthur Löpfe, former governor of Appenzell Innerrhoden.
Plakanda Holding is also moving its IT, finance and management operations to Cham ZG as of September 1. Plakanda Management AG already had its headquarters in Baar. Only Plakanda AG, Plakanda AWI AG and Plakanda Ofex AG, i.e. the sales team and poster site acquisition, will remain in Zurich (mk).
