After the slack years of 1997 and 1998, Affichage-Holding's sales revenue rose by 8.8 percent from CHF 246.9 million in 1998 to CHF 268.7 million, with Swiss business showing an increase of 7.5 percent and European poster business as much as 23 percent. Five years after the entry into Europaplakat, sales revenue abroad already accounts for nine percent of total Affichage sales revenue. In terms of operating income, Affichage even increased by 15.4 percent to 32 million Swiss francs, and net income grew by 11.6 percent from 21.5 to 24 million Swiss francs.
For the current year, the new CEO Christian Kauter expects sales growth of 10 percent to 240 million Swiss francs for the parent company APG (Allgemeine Plakatgesellschaft). Information on the Group's sales expectations is vague: 280 to 300 million Swiss francs.
At the annual press conference, Jean-Pierre Bonny, Chairman of the Board of Affichage Holding, announced his resignation as of July 1, 2000. He had been a member of the Board of Directors for 16 years (including five years as Chairman), and now made way for Jean-Philippe Maître, a Frenchman and former member of the Board. Markus Scheidegger, an advocate from Berne, was nominated as a new member of the Board of Directors (mk).
