Michael Rauchenstein now anchors the "Tagesschau" main edition on SRF

The new anchor of the main edition of "Tagesschau" is Michael Rauchenstein. SRF's former EU correspondent in Brussels succeeds Franz Fischlin.

Starting in August, 32-year-old Michael Rauchenstein will join the anchor team of the "Tagesschau" main edition with Andrea Vetsch, Cornelia Boesch and Florian Inhauser. He succeeds Franz Fischlin, who is leaving SRF. (Werbewoche.ch reported). Fischlin will greet the audience for the last time as anchor of the "Tagesschau" main edition on June 23, 2022.

Michael Rauchenstein has been on assignment as TV correspondent in the EU capital in Brussels since 2020. Before becoming a correspondent, the political journalist already worked for SRF, since 2018 at the Zurich Leutschenbach studio location in the newsroom as an editor for the foreign and video editorial departments, as well as an editor for "Arena.

Born in Schwyz, Lachen studied political science and sociology at the University of Lucerne and the Free University of Berlin, graduating with a master's degree in spring 2019. During his studies, the 32-year-old was already working as a freelance editor for SRF in Berlin. Before joining SRF, Michael Rauchenstein gained his first media experience as an editor and presenter of the youth program "VideoGang," and later as a presenter at Radio Top and at Central Switzerland Television, where he got to know national politics as a presenter of special programs on regional and national elections.

Michael Rauchenstein's successor as Brussels correspondent at SRF is still open, according to the statement.
