Switzerland Tourism: Daniela Chiani now responsible for the China market

Daniela Chiani will be responsible for China, an important market for Switzerland Tourism, from May 1, 2022. She was previously Marketing Campaign Manager at the tourism organization.

The marketing and communications expert with a bachelor's degree in Chinese will work with the ST teams on site to position Switzerland as an attractive destination in the region and to encourage Chinese guests to return.

In the years before the pandemic, overnight stays from China had grown continuously, writes Switzerland Tourism in a statement. This made the market the third most important foreign market for Swiss tourism, right after Germany and the USA. In order to seize the still enormous potential of the new generation of Chinese-speaking travelers in particular, ST is present and active with 13 specialists in Beijing and Shanghai, but also in Hong Kong and Taipei.

Language and country expert takes over

Daniela Chiani holds a bachelor's degree in journalism, politics and Chinese as well as a master's degree in communication and media. After gaining agency experience in PR and strategy at Jung von Matt Limmat in Zurich and abroad at Swissnex in Boston as a content manager, Chiani has been working in marketing at ST.

The tourism specialist speaks Mandarin and will manage Swiss tourism advertising locally in Beijing from May 1, 2022. The main focus of activities is more than ever innovative online promotions on all relevant web and social media platforms of the market. Highly specific target groups are addressed as individual guests, especially within the new and urban generations of travelers.

The momentum of the upcoming Winter Olympics should ensure the awareness and popularity of winter sports among even broader sections of the population. ST wants to take advantage of this great potential and show the ever-increasing number of local slope fans the original of winter and promote Swiss winter vacations.
