The announcement in mid-August 2021 that Martin Blaser will join the Board of Directors of FC Lugano SA as part of the takeover of FC Lugano by Walden Football LLC will lead to a change at the top of Ringier Sports: Alexander Grimm, Chief Digital Officer of Ringier Sports since October 1, 2020, will become the new CEO of the sports business agency as of October 1, 2021. His predecessor Martin Blaser will step down at the end of September 2021 and hand over operational responsibility for Ringier Sports. He will remain associated with the company as a newly appointed member of the Board of Directors, Ringier writes in a statement.

Alexander Grimm founded the company Sportal Media in 2003, which includes, for example, the sports portal Sport.ch and the streaming platform Sportalhd.com. The agency aggregates, curates, produces and distributes sports content for fans and brands on social, digital and TV platforms. In October 2020, Ringier Sports acquired Sportal Media, with Alexander Grimm appointed Chief Digital Officer (Werbewoche.ch reported).

"Ringier Sports has everything it needs to be a strong partner for brands, leagues and associations in realizing new, innovative projects. And in particular to develop new marketing models through digitization. I'm looking forward to that," the new Ringier Sports CEO Grimm was quoted as saying in a press release.
