Désirée Pomper becomes deputy editor-in-chief at 20 Minuten

Désirée Pomper will take over as deputy editor-in-chief at 20 Minuten at the beginning of April. In addition, Sandro Spaeth and Daniel Waldmeier will join the editorial team.

Pomper, who was previously a member of the Editor-in-Chief and Head of Story and Video Formats, will take over as Deputy Editor-in-Chief at the beginning of April 2021. She succeeds Lorenz Hanselmann, who will leave the company at the end of March to pursue a new career (Werbewoche.ch reported).

Sandro Spaeth, Head of the Business Department and member of the Editorial Board, and Daniel Waldmeier, Head of the Politics Department and member of the Editorial Board, will also be appointed to the new four-person Editorial Board as of April 1, 2021.

37-year-old Désirée Pomper started in 20 Minuten's Domestic & Politics department in 2009, taking over as its head in 2012. In 2018, she additionally took over as head of the reporter team. At the beginning of 2019, she was appointed head of the Story department, which she has led together with the Video Formats department since the beginning of 2021 (Werbewoche.ch reported). Pomper has been a member of 20 Minuten's editorial team since summer 2019. She studied international relations in Geneva and was at the Columbia School of Journalism in New York in 2014.

Sandro Spaeth has been Head of Business at 20 Minuten since 2012. At the beginning of 2018, the 41-year-old was appointed to the editorial management. In business journalism, Sandro Spaeth has attracted attention with his format "Live from the Executive Office," among other things. Sandro Spaeth graduated in journalism from the Swiss School of Journalism MAZ and continued his education at the Columbia School of Journalism in New York in 2017. Spaeth is currently completing a Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) in Communication Management and Leadership at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences ZHAW.

Daniel Waldmeier joined 20 Minuten in 2008 as an intern in the domestic department. He then worked as a freelancer, and in 2012 he became editor of the politics section. In 2017, he was appointed deputy head of department, and in 2018 the 34-year-old took over as head of department. Since October 2019, he has also been a member of the editorial board in this capacity. Since 2017, Daniel Waldmeier has also acted as project coordinator for the political surveys regularly conducted by 20 Minuten and Tamedia. Daniel Waldmeier studied German and economics at the University of Zurich and earned a doctorate in older German literature.
