The 31-year-old is currently chief of staff at the Glarus News, the Glarus regional edition of the Südostschweiz, and takes over as editorial director as of June 1. This will guarantee a seamless transition from his predecessor Rolf Hösli. Hösli is leaving Somedia after almost 32 years, becoming the new sports promoter of the canton of Glarus, as announced in December.

Dürst studied at the universities of Basel, Zurich, Lucerne and Fribourg and graduated in 2015 with a Master of Arts in Religion - Economics - Politics. He has worked for various newspapers since 2005, including the Tages-Anzeiger and at the Basler Zeitung. In 2017, he was honored by the trade magazine Swiss journalist named "Top 30 Under 30 Journalists" talent.

Due to the current difficult situation in connection with the coronavirus, no regular application procedure could be carried out for the time being. This will probably be made up for in the second half of the year. Dürst is therefore filling the position of editorial director on an interim basis until the end of December 2020.
