Stefan Thommen becomes CEO of Publicom

At the beginning of 2019, Stefan Thommen will take over the operational management of the research and consulting company specializing in media and communication.

After 32 years, Publicom founder René Grossenbacher is handing over operational management to his long-time deputy Stefan Thommen. Grossenbacher remains Chairman of the Board of Directors and will focus on the strategic development of the company. The handover of staff, which has been planned for some time, is part of a comprehensive succession plan and ensures the continuity of services and business relationships.

Stefan Thommen studied environmental sciences at the ETH and sociology and journalism at the University of Zurich. In 1996, he joined Publicom and was appointed Senior Consultant in 2001. Since 2003, he has been a member of the Executive Board and Deputy CEO. He has focused on corporate communications, quality management in editorial organizations and media market structures. Among other things, Stefan Thommen is responsible for the Media Monitor Switzerland, which was recently presented to the public and analyzes the opinion power of media brands and media groups in Switzerland. In his new role, he will also continue to drive forward the digitization of the analysis processes in particular.
