Basel-Stadt department of the BZ with new management: Daniel Ballmer takes over

Daniel Ballmer took over as head of the Basel-Stadt department on September 1. He replaces Andreas Schwald, who is now devoting himself entirely to the digital sector.

The 43-year-old worked for the company from 2000 to 2011. BZ and the Switzerland at the weekend and, after an intermezzo at the Basel Newspaper returned as a political reporter in spring 2016. Over the past two and a half years, he has described federal politics from a regional perspective and increasingly delved into politics in the city of Basel. The result was a whole series of spectacular exclusive articles.

Andreas Schwald, who previously held a dual role as head of department and online editor-in-chief, will concentrate on Bzbasel.ch and Basellandschaftlichezeitung.ch respectively and the various social media channels where the BZ is growing strongly and wants to further expand its activities. The 37-year-old has become an expert in electronic media during his time at Telebasel, Tageswoche and Barfi.ch, among others.

Benjamin Rosch will take over Ballmer's role to ensure that the regional view of federal Bern is maintained. The 30-year-old is also deputy head of department. Rosch has been working for the BZ. Previously, he had trained his spurs at 20 minutes earned.
