Sermîn Faki becomes Head of the Political Department of the Blick Group

Sermîn Faki is the new head of the Blick Group's politics department. The long-standing editor of the Bundeshaus has been working for Blick since April 2016. In addition to Faki, Blick can announce further new appointments. The previous co-heads of department Joël Widmer and Matthias Halbeis have decided to leave the company.

Sermîn Faki (41) will become head of politics at Blick on November 1. She studied political science, modern history and Islamic studies at the University of Potsdam. She also holds a master's degree in Applied Ethics from the University of Zurich. She started her journalistic career with regular work for the "Werdenberger & Toggenburger". From 2007 onwards, Sermîn Faki wrote for the lifestyle magazine of the Südostschweiz am Sonntag. 2009 followed the change to the domestic department of the Südostschweiz in Chur. From 2011, she reported from Bern for the joint federal parliamentary team of "Südostschweiz" and "Aargauer Zeitung". In 2012, she moved as editor of the Bundeshaus to the Central Switzerland on Sundaybefore joining Blick in April 2016.

Joël Widmer and Matthias Halbeis leave

The previous co-heads of department, Joël Widmer and Matthias Halbeis, have decided to take on the View-Group, which the editorial management regrets. Both had been in this position since the beginning of 2014. Under their leadership, the political section regularly set journalistic accents that caused a national stir; for example, with the building land research on Federal Councilor Guy Parmelin, which was honored with the Swiss Media Award.

Other new additions

Furthermore, the following new employees will join the team in the coming weeks View-Newsroom: Roman Neumann (34) returns to Blick. He will become deputy news chief and desk chief, alongside Daniel Riedel (37), as of September 1, 2017. Most recently, Roman Neumann was a reporter at 20 minutes and then on a longer trip. He graduated from the Ringier School of Journalism in 2007. From 2008 to 2014, he worked as a reporter at the View-Group, of which the last year at the SonntagsBlick.

Dominique Rais (27) also joined the News department on September 1, 2017. Until March 2017, she was in charge of the department of Wiler News, she currently writes as a freelance journalist.

Simon Steiner (40) starts as a producer on December 1, 2017. He currently works as a producer for the newspapers Aargauer newspaper and Switzerland at the weekend.

Mario von Ow (31) joined the video team of the View-Group and supports the video creative team there. He worked for various films as a camera and director's assistant and completed internships at "SRF DOK" and in 2017 as a video journalist at the Tages-Anzeiger.
