Adrian Gaugler to be new spokesman for Basel-Landschaft police force

The Basel-Land police have a new head of their external communications: 30-year-old former journalist Adrian Gaugler takes up the post on February 13. It became vacant with the separation amid side noises of Meinrad Stöcklin at the end of September.

Gaugler had held various positions at local TV station Telebasel for several years, most recently in program management for sports and live productions. Since November, he has been employed by Swissgrid, the Swiss electricity grid company, as Senior Communications Manager.

Gaugler, who is from the Upper Basel region, completed further training in communications management last year, police said Wednesday. After studying media and law in Basel, he earned a master's degree in communication science and media research at the University of Fribourg. In the future, he will be the main contact person for journalists at the police.

Gaugler's predecessor Stöcklin had been police spokesman for 16 years and also president of the Swiss Conference of Media Officers of the Swiss Police Corps for eight years. In the course of a restructuring, Barbara Richard took over as head of communications in 2015. It was agreed to keep the separation "by mutual agreement" confidential. (SDA)
