Enthusiasm for media and passion for research run as a common thread through the 42-year-old's life. After graduating summa cum laude in media studies and journalism from the University of Zurich, she plunged into the Swiss media industry and has remained true to it to this day. After joining the then private broadcaster TV3 for two years, she worked in client services at Publisuisse, where she was involved in conducting industry studies and analyzing marketing strategies. She then moved to IP Multimedia (Switzerland) - later Goldbach Media (Switzerland) - where she spent ten years as Head of Research & Development, making a valuable contribution to the development of the company's research department and establishing sound usage and impact research for the media TV, radio, digital out of home, teletext and Internet TV in Switzerland. In addition to her professional activities, she taught at universities of applied sciences and was involved in national and international research committees. Since 2014, she has been responsible for administrative management and project management at the Institute for Applied Communication Research IaKom. She will continue to perform this task in addition to managing IGEM.

Siri Fischer is looking forward to the new challenge: "IGEM unites people with the most diverse functions and interests from the field of electronic media. At the same time, I would like to further strengthen the position of IGEM externally and the benefits of IGEM internally for the members."

IGEM President Stephan Küng is delighted with the new executive: "In Siri Fischer, we have been able to gain a pronounced connoisseur of the Swiss media landscape and a proven research specialist. With our new managing director, the board feels well prepared for the new challenges of the dynamic Swiss electronic media market, especially those of digital transformation, and looks forward to working together."

He bids farewell to Ueli Custer, the long-time Managing Director, with warm words and pays tribute to his commitment to IGEM: "On behalf of the entire Board, we would like to thank Ueli Custer very much for his extremely competent management of the office since the founding of IGEM and his loyalty over these 19 years. He hands over IGEM in a very successful situation with a record number of members."
