Mario Eggimann joins SRF's team of pundits to kick off the second half of the Super League season. The former international will make his debut at the match between BSC Young Boys and FC Sion. SRF zwei will broadcast the match on Sunday, February 5, 2017, at 3:50 p.m. directly from the Stade de Suisse in Bern. Sascha Ruefer will commentate.

Mario Eggimann succeeds Christoph Spycher, who ended his SRF involvement after being appointed head of sports at BSC Young Boys. Still part of the team of experts in the Super League are Gürkan Sermeter and Beni Huggel. The three co-commentators will be heard and seen alternately during Sunday matches on SRF two.

The 35-year-old Eggimann can look back on an impressive career as a professional soccer player: The center back made ten appearances for the Swiss senior national team, including at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. He played a total of 126 games in the 1st Bundesliga for Karlsruher SC and Hannover 96. In addition, he played 160 games in the 2nd Bundesliga. With Karlsruher SC, the Aargau native was promoted to the German top flight in 2007 as team captain and 2nd division champion.
