Neo Advertising has been "Eco-Enterprise" certified since 2017 and, according to its own statements, became the first climate-neutral outdoor advertising company in 2020 by preparing annual carbon footprints based on the MyClimate label and offsetting 100 percent of its emissions. Now, the company aims to become the first outdoor advertising player to offset its energy needs, by investing in renewable energy production projects in Switzerland. By purchasing the certificates of origin (CoOs) issued for the energy generated, Neo Advertising supports the construction of "Naturemade Star"-certified photovoltaic plants in Switzerland.

From January 2023, Neo Advertising's entire electricity consumption of 3,000 MWh will be offset by corresponding guarantees of origin, the company writes in a statement. In this way, the local production of renewable energy would be promoted twice, on the one hand through the purchase of locally and renewably generated electricity wherever possible for the company's advertising spaces, and on the other hand through the acquisition of the HKN.

In doing so, the outdoor advertising company wants to send a signal to the market, advertising customers and partners, and show that it takes climate protection seriously. Switzerland's energy dependency is to be reduced.

"The current energy and climate challenges are great and more and more clients and partners are asking for tangible and verifiable data on the environmental impact of advertising campaigns," explains Christian Vaglio-Giors, CEO of Neo Advertising. "We also need to find ways to offset the environmental footprint of our business. At Neo, actions count more than words. We want to 1. avoid, 2. reduce and 3. offset emissions, while raising awareness and enthusiasm among our customers for our goals."

Neo Advertising is already using various measures, including local, renewable energy sources, clean vehicles, alternative mobility solutions for employees and more efficient technology, to reduce its CO2 emissions and energy consumption. For this, the company was awarded the "Excellence" label by EcoEntreprise.
