Since its foundation, the Zurich Radio and Television Cooperative - now SRG Zurich Schaffhausen - has played an active role in the Swiss media landscape. In 1924, it installed the first radio station in German-speaking Switzerland, laying the foundations for today's Radio SRF. The five-part podcast series delves into the 100-year history of the cooperative and highlights some key moments. The first episode deals with the question of how much the public can and should be involved in the program and what it meant for radio to be a quasi-state radio station during the Second World War.

For the research, media historian Edzard Schade studied hundreds of files and retrieved old audio documents from the archive. Simon Berginz from the podcast agency Ellie Media then worked with Schade to develop the concept for the first episode. "Producing a history podcast on this scale is an exciting challenge for us," says Ellie Media Managing Director Andreas Wullschleger. "It was important to us that we didn't simply work through the story chronologically, but that we created an exciting dramaturgy thematically."

The podcast "100 years of media quality and dialog" was commissioned by SRG Zürich Schaffhausen. For Barbara Meili, President of SRG Zürich Schaffhausen, the podcast is "an attractive format for communicating our multifaceted history to the public". The podcast series was presented on March 5 in the Salzhaus Winterthur as a prelude to the anniversary year. The podcasts and a detailed chronicle by Edzard Schade are available on Srgzhsh.ch available.
