Changes to the management of Ringier's international media brands will come into effect in mid-January 2024, according to a statement from the Ringier Group. With the creation of the Ringier Media International division, Dmitry Shishkin will take over as CEO and Michael Moersch will become COO. In his new role, Shishkin will become a member of Ringier's extended Group Executive Board.

With this decision, Ringier is establishing clear operational responsibilities. It is also a "further important step" in the company's commitment to excellence, innovation and the continuous growth of its global media business. The new Ringier Medien International unit will manage 80 media brands in the CEE countries.

With this change, Ringier's media activities now comprise three business units: Ringier Media Switzerland with all Swiss media brands, led by Ladina Heimgartner, Ringier Sports Media Group, which currently combines nine sports media brands from seven countries and is led by Robin Lingg as Chairman of the Board of Directors and Stilian Shishkov as Senior Partner, and Ringier Media International with all international media brands under the leadership of Dmitry Shishkin.

Shishkin: Leadership personality with an extensive track record

Media professional Dmitry Shishkin graduated from Moscow State University with a degree in international journalism in 1999. From 1997 to 2018, he worked for the BBC World Service, where he held various editorial and management positions. Among other things, he led the development and implementation of the BBC's digital editorial strategy for 41 non-English language news services and built up the teams in Europe, Asia and Africa. He then worked as Chief Content Officer at a London-based travel startup. His expertise spans editorial, organizational, strategic, data and product disciplines, all focused on delivering relevant content. Shishkin is a member of the World Editors Forum Board of the World Association of News Publishers WAN-IFRA and is a mentor on the Journalism Innovation and Leadership Program at the University of Central Lancashire.

Moersch: An experienced media strategist

Michael Moersch has headed the digital strategy of Ringier Axel Springer Switzerland RASCH as Chief Digital Officer since 2017. His legal background with a focus on international media, communication and intellectual property gives him a special perspective on the media business. Before joining RASCH, he held various management positions in media companies, including at Axel Springer in Berlin and the Handelsblatt Media Group in Düsseldorf.

Global Media Unit under new operational management Leadership

In addition to his new role as COO of Ringier Medien International, Moersch will assume operational responsibility for the Global Media Unit (GMU). The GMU will continue to be overseen by Ladina Heimgartner as Head Global Media at Ringier Group Executive Board level.

Patrick Rademacher, COO of GMU since 2021, will assume the role of Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer in the newly established Ringier Media Switzerland unit as soon as the Competition Commission has given its approval.
