For its 50th birthday in 2018, the NGO Public Eye had for the first time given the so-called "Investigation Award"The past two editions of the award have shown the relevance and explosiveness of the ideas in the pipelines. The past two editions of the award, with a total of almost 100 applications, have shown what relevant and explosive ideas are in the pipeline - but also that many reporters, correspondents and civil society actors do not have the financial and time resources for elaborate research. That is why the prize will be awarded again in 2023, combined with two research grants of CHF 10,000 each.

Participation possible until the end of March

Anyone who conducts professional research is invited to participate until March 24, 2023; in addition to media professionals, this also includes employees of NGOs or scientific institutions. The journalistic work should bring to light previously unpublished facts about human rights violations, environmental violations, corruption or illegitimate financial practices of a Swiss company, institution or private individual abroad. More details about the competition can be found in the official Tender and the Regulations.

The submissions for the 20,000-franc scholarship will again be judged by a high-caliber jury, including Tamedia's head of research Oliver Zihlmann, ICIJ Africa reporter Will Fitzgibbon, New York journalism professor Anya Schiffrin and OCCRP corruption expert Alexandra Gillies. Public Eye provides the remaining four members of the eight-member panel.
