MAZ: Ursin Cadisch becomes Head of Studies in the Digital Media Department

Experienced journalist and trainer Ursin Cadisch takes over as Head of Digital Media at MAZ - the Swiss School of Journalism.

Ursin Cadisch will be the new Head of Digital Media Studies at MAZ - The Swiss School of Journalism. He will take up the post in February 2023, succeeding Frank Hänecke, who will retire after more than 20 years at the MAZ.

"Accompanying aspiring journalists on their career path and reflecting with trained experts on the role of journalism in the future is one of the most exciting areas of development in the area of tension between quality journalism and profitability. This is precisely where innovations of any kind can take work away from journalists, not take it away. All this with the aim of guaranteeing the quality of independent journalism for a functioning democracy," says Ursin Cadisch.

Many years of experience

"Ursin Cadisch is no stranger to the MAZ: He completed both the diploma training and the master's degree in "New Media Journalism" at our school. With his work as a trainer, he meets the requirements in an ideal way," MAZ Director Martina Fehr is pleased to say.

The 53-year-old has been working for Radiotelevisiun Svizra Rumantscha (RTR) for over 25 years - among other things, he has managed newsroom projects, built up and shared responsibility for the social media area, and at times been responsible for the content of RTR's online offering. Ursin Cadisch is also a lecturer - both in-house and at the University of Applied Sciences Graubünden. He has also been a member of the first chamber of the Swiss Press Council since 2018.
