In addition to President Delphine Ernotte-Cunci of France Télévisions and Vice President Petr Dvorák, Director General of Czech Television, another nine European media representatives from the service public sector make up the new Executive Board. The EBU Executive Board is entrusted with the implementation of the EBU strategy as well as general policy.

"I am honored by the confidence of the General Assembly and the other European service public decision-makers. This is a recognition of SRG's work in Switzerland and internationally," Marchand said of his election. "It's important that SRG can compare its ideas and solutions with the best public media houses in the world and continue to contribute to uniting society with high-quality media offerings."

World's largest alliance

The EBU is the world's largest alliance of public service media companies with 112 members from 56 countries and 30 members in Asia, Africa and America. It unites a total of around 2,000 radio, TV and online services in around 160 languages. The values of public service are upheld jointly, for example premium content from news, culture and entertainment - such as the Eurovision Song Contest - is exchanged, there is cooperation in the areas of technology, training and market analysis, and rights in the sports sector are also negotiated. Switzerland is a founding member of the predecessor organization IBU and has been a member of the EBU since 1950, with headquarters in Geneva.
