In total, Direct Mail Company (DCM) eliminated 20.5 full-time positions as of Sept. 1, Swiss Post announced Thursday. According to the statement, the employees had been responsible for, among other things, the free newspaper Biel/Bienne distributed. In future, this will no longer be published twice a week and will be added to the large circulation of the Bieler Tagblatt and of the Journal du Jura settled. As a result, the largest order in the region would be lost.

According to the statement, the Swiss Post subsidiary Presto is responsible for the delivery of large print runs. Swiss Post is looking for employment opportunities for the affected employees there. Employees can submit proposals by the beginning of June as part of a consultation process on how the planned job cuts could be avoided, the statement added. (SDA)
