SRF launches podcast "Literature Club: Two with a Book
The podcast "Literature Club: Two with a Book" is now online. Two host pairs discuss new releases and rediscoveries. Authors and other voices are also part of the new format.
The podcast "Literaturclub: Zwei mit Buch" appears every two weeks and can also be heard on Radio SRF 2 Kultur. In addition, SRF Kultur's diverse range of literature is supplemented with a monthly "Best List" compiled by a jury of around 50 experts from all over German-speaking Switzerland.
Under the motto "Literature for everyone, everywhere," SRF Kultur will offer a wide range of proven and newly developed literary offerings from March 2022. The familiar "Literature Club" brand will be expanded with the podcast "Literature Club: Two with a Book. Each episode will focus on one book. The podcast is presented by two host pairs from the SRF literature editorial team: Franziska Hirsbrunner and "Literaturclub" host Nicola Steiner, as well as Simon Leuthold and Felix Münger. The hosts take listeners on their personal journey through a new book release in an entertaining and reflective way. Starting from this book, the hosts explore the content, discuss reading impressions, trace language and characters, and also look beyond the edge of the book.
For insights and background information, the hosts speak with the author and obtain additional voices on an aspect or topic of the book. Listeners' opinions and suggestions will also be incorporated into the new format. For example, in the first episode of the "Literaturclub" podcast, Simon Leuthold and Felix Münger talk about "Ein simpler Eingriff," the new novel by Basel-based writer and winner of the Swiss Literature Prize Yael Inokai. The story is set in a psychiatric hospital, where a new kind of intervention is supposed to free women from their psychological suffering. In the podcast, not only does author Yael Inokai talk about the genesis of the novel, but a psychiatry professor also has his say, putting brain surgery in a medical-historical context. This first episode will be broadcast on Monday, February 28, 6:30 p.m., on Radio SRF 2 Kultur (repeat: Sunday, March 6, 11:00 a.m., on Radio SRF 2 Kultur).
In the second episode, Franziska Hirsbrunner and "Literaturclub" host Nicola Steiner discuss the book "The Memory Faker" by Abbas Khider: as a Podcast and on March 7, 2022, at 6:30 p.m., on Radio SRF 2 Kultur (repeat: Sunday, March 13, 11:00 a.m. on Radio SRF 2 Kultur).
