20 Minuten to play social media first in future - 17 new posts

20 Minuten is planning the next step in its digital transformation and is focusing on a "social media first" strategy from 2022. The aim is to address the young generation in a target group-oriented manner. In addition, 17 new jobs are planned.

In response to the rapid changes in media consumption, the 20 minutes will take the next step towards a "social media first" strategy in 2022. In future, the relevant news and entertainment formats will be produced primarily for display on various social platforms and will also be displayed there first before being adapted for the app, website and newspaper. This is what 20 minutes in a recent press release.

As a result, 17 new full-time positions are to be created in Sven Ruoss' team in the areas of content, distribution, commercial publishing, community management, data analysis and sales. The Chief Product Officer's project group is currently working on the detailed concept: "The aim is to develop new, exciting formats for existing channels such as Instagram or Tiktok. On the other hand, we want to provide additional platforms such as YouTube or Twitch with new, customized content," says Ruoss.

1999 saw the launch of 20 minutes with the commuter newspaper, the newspaper's content was adapted and displayed on 20minuten.ch. In 2012 20 minutes strategy to "digital first", followed by "mobile first" in 2015. After videos became an increasingly high priority, the company invested in 20 minutes in the expansion of the video sector and changed its approach to "video first". The next transformation step will now follow with the introduction of the "social media first" strategy in 2022, the press release concludes.
