At the beginning of June, Tamedia had announced that it would cut 6.5 jobs in French-speaking Switzerland. (Werbewoche.ch reported). After about 20 negotiation sessions, the social partners have agreed on a social plan. The editorial delegation and the journalists' association Imprint welcome the social plan, but regret that Tamedia has rejected an alternative solution to the redundancies, according to a statement published on Wednesday. They consider it a success that the media company has accepted a one-year layoff freeze for the French-language editorial teams.

Tamedia recalled in a separate statement that the job cuts were announced last year as part of an austerity plan to compensate for the decline in advertising revenues and to drive the transformation of the business model.

The job cuts affect the titles Femina, Le Matin Dimanche, T and the editorial service. No jobs are created at the titles 24 Heures, Tribune de Genève and Bilan deleted due to natural fluctuations. (SDA/swi)
