The team is rooted in the Aargau region and is made up of eight editors, reporters, three social media and video staff and three producers, CH Media announced Wednesday.

The team will be led by 49-year-old Stephan Gassner and 30-year-old Stephan Weber. Gassner has a "wealth of experience in regional journalism," while Weber comes from Swiss radio and television SRF, where he also helped shape the trimedial daily routine.

It is CH Media's third regional news platform - after FM1Today in eastern Switzerland and PilatusToday in central Switzerland. Since the launch of these Today platforms, there has been an increasing demand for regional and local news, the company had justified the launch of the new Today platform in November.

Accordingly, Florian Wanner, Head of Radio CH Media, expressed his "pride" in the announcement about the expansion of the Today platforms. "Especially because we are focusing on local digital journalism," he was quoted as saying.

The launch comes earlier than expected - it was originally announced that ArgoviaToday would launch in summer 2021. (SDA)
