The printing center will commence operations at the ZT Medien site in the fall, the two media companies announced on Tuesday. The move is intended to prepare for the highly competitive market, increase capacity utilization and exploit synergies.

The two owners of the printing center, the subsidiary SWS Medien AG PriMedia and ZT Medien, will continue to offer their services on the market as competitors. Prepress in Sursee will be retained, said Edi Lindegger, Managing Director of SWS Medien, when asked.

However, because the machines in Sursee are older than those at ZT Medien, the decision was made to concentrate the print shop in Zofingen. Eight employees in Sursee are affected by the decision. The situation is being evaluated, said Lindegger, and it should be possible to organize the redundancies in a "very socially acceptable" way.

ZT Medien, which for example Zofinger Tagblatt employs around 180 people in the area of communication and media. Over 40 people work for SWS Medien, including at the newspapers Willisauer messenger and Seetaler messenger but also at the subsidiary PriMedia, which is active in the printing sector.

Newspaper printing is not affected by the closure. The two SWS titles will continue to be printed at CH Media in Aarau. (SDA)
