Eastern Switzerland appears in a new look

The regional online newspaper Die Ostschweiz will appear with immediate effect in a completely renewed design that is intended to meet the needs of the readership. Ammarkt is responsible for concept and implementation, while GoEast continues to be responsible for technical implementation.

Eastern Switzerland as the regional medium for the cantons of St.Gallen, Thurgau, Appenzell Ausserrhoden and Innerrhoden has appeared graphically largely unchanged in the online edition since its launch in April 2018, apart from a few adjustments. Now Ammarkt has launched a comprehensive restructuring realized.

The new appearance focuses more on the image and gives the individual articles more air and space. The adapted font is intended to make the site easier to read. The layout now also takes greater account of the fact that Eastern Switzerland is more a magazine than a news medium and focuses on background information, in-depth analysis and commentary. The aim of the redesign was to be unagitated, clear and easy to understand.

Focus remains the same

As before, the focus is on illuminating politics, business, society and culture. The latest news from the region is now reflected in a live feed, which provides a quick overview of events in the form of a running chronicle. In addition, the renewed newspaper relies on changing themed journals with collections of articles, for example on enjoyment, lifestyle or mobility.

Geographically more extensive

At the same time, Eastern Switzerland is also opening up geographically in certain areas. Eastern Switzerland remains the anchor. In addition, however, in the sense of broadening horizons, more voices, ideas and inspirations from authors from other parts of the country are to be included in the future. In this way, the medium also takes into account the fact that its readership always includes people from other regions of Switzerland.

In January 2021, the online newspaper said it had reached the highest level in its history, with around 400,000 unique readers. The print magazine, launched in February 2020 and published six times a year, is also seeing rapid subscriber growth.
