Schweizer Journalist now becomes Schweizer Journalist:in magazine. The industry journal is using a comprehensive relaunch to change its title. At the same time, the current issue announces the future editorial management.

The two freelance journalists Charlotte Theile and Samantha Zaugg took over as editors-in-chief of the industry magazine on Monday, according to a communiqué from the media trade publisher Oberauer. Charlotte Theile has worked, among other things, as Switzerland correspondent for the South German Newspaper worked. Samantha Zaugg is a multimedia journalist. "Both represent a new generation in our profession. I experience excellent training paired with exceptional passion here. An exciting mixture," publisher Johann Oberauer is quoted as saying in the press release.

The two editors-in-chief invite you to the 1st Journalist:in Videocall on March 11 at 5:30 p.m.: "We are a magazine by and for journalists. We want to look at young, innovative, diverse perspectives, we want to reflect on our profession and its tasks - but above all we want to be a place of open exchange. For this reason, we invite you to discuss with us. What do you expect from the magazine Swiss journalist:in? How can we become even more your magazine? Where do we need to look urgently? What mistakes can we make only once?" The Video call participation is free of charge.

 

Appreciation for Sylvia Egli von Matt

Sylvia Egli von Matt already suggested a cross-gender title when it was founded more than 15 years ago. Publisher Johann Oberauer and editor-in-chief Markus Wiegand had the then MAZ director as editor for the Swiss journalist could win. "We are therefore now dedicating the new title to Sylvia Egli von Matt and at the same time paying tribute to the enormous services she has rendered to Swiss journalism over many years," explains Oberauer.

Sylvia Egli von Matt had accompanied at least one generation of Swiss journalists in their professional lives and had also passed on to them a certain understanding of values, which Egli von Matt herself lived in an impressive way.

Javier Errea is responsible for the current relaunch. The Spaniard is one of the world's best media designers. His work has won numerous awards. He has been advising the media specialist publisher Oberauer for more than 15 years.

 

The new editors-in-chief

Born in 1987, Charlotte Theile is a journalist and author. She reported as a correspondent from Switzerland from 2014 to 2018. She writes about crime, politics, feminism and social issues. In November 2019, she started hosting the podcast Breakup, where different people talk about their breakups. In 2020, she founded the storytelling agency Elephant Stories.

Samantha Zaugg was born in 1994 and is a freelance journalist, filmmaker and photographer. She reports on people and things that amaze her herself, writes a column at the Switzerland at the weekend, tells stories about people and heads the Swiss Reporter:innen Forum. She is also studying art at the Zurich University of the Arts. In her artistic practice she works with photography and video. Her latest film "Banquet" is about male alliances and how to make a film when you are not allowed to make a film.
