New appearance for TV news broadcasts and online news from SRF

"Schweiz aktuell," "SRF Börse," "Tagesschau" and "10vor10" as well as SRF News' online news will appear in a new visual guise starting Monday. In addition, the brand architecture is being sharpened: SRF has been providing information online and in social media under the SRF News brand for some time, and this umbrella brand will now also be adopted in the visual appearance of the TV news broadcasts. The new content brand was designed by Regardez!

The existing on-air design of "Schweiz aktuell," "SRF Börse," "Tagesschau" and "10vor10" was last revised in 2012. Now SRF is adapting the visual world and branding of the TV and online news to the newsroom operating model, according to which the various specialist editorial teams have been operating since November 2018. This is also being done with a view to moving the TV news broadcasts to the new studio space in the news and sports center, but this will happen gradually from mid-2021 at the earliest, SRF said on Monday.

SRF has been providing information online and in social media under the "SRF News" brand for some time now. The content for this is created in the newsrooms in Bern and Zurich, as well as at various regional SRF locations. TV news has also been coming from the newsroom in Zurich since November 2018. According to SRF, it was therefore a logical step to express this operating model in brand management as well. Thus, the TV news broadcasts will visually appear under the umbrella brand "SRF News" from now on. The programs "Schweiz aktuell," "SRF Börse," "Tagesschau" and "10vor10" will continue to exist, and their content focus and journalistic concept will remain unchanged.

Comprehensive redesign and new brand architecture

The redesign of the TV news broadcasts includes the following elements: signete at the beginning and end of the broadcasts, logos and key visuals, graphics and inserts. Also new is the brand architecture with the new umbrella brand "SRF News," which appears on the screen at the top left during the broadcasts as a program identifier. In addition, the projection surfaces in the studios, the so-called studio passepartouts, will be covered with new backgrounds. The new on-air design of the TV news broadcasts will celebrate its premiere with the Monday afternoon "Tagesschau" on SRF 1. On all online platforms, the information offerings of SRF News will also be adapted to the new design.

The implementation of the large-scale project was carried out by the creative team of Regardez! around Director Bart Wasem in cooperation with SRF. Pver 200 design elements were realized for the areas on air, online and print.

"G&G - Faces and Stories"

On Monday, the society magazine "G&G" will also go on the air for the first time with the new name "G&G - Gesichter und Geschichten. With the name change, the show is completing the transformation from a pure people magazine to a society magazine, which is already happening in practice today, SRF writes in the release. In the future, "G&G" will take up even more stories from the fields of music, film, theater, literature, art, sports, as well as science and politics, and will present new "faces and stories" from all over Switzerland every day.
