Teleclub wants to simulate stadium atmosphere

The Swiss Football League resumes operations. TV rights holder Teleclub is gearing up for the end of the interrupted season with free games and audio effects.

Switzerland's two top soccer leagues, the Super League and Challenge League, resume operations on June 19. The starting match attractive on paper: YB against FCZ. Whether that also applies to the atmosphere remains to be seen. The match in Bern - like all the others - will take place in front of empty stands. But not without spectators: Teleclub will broadcast the match on the free-TV channel Telelclub Zoom. In addition, a stream will be shown on Bluewin.ch. Both Bluewin and Teleclub are owned by Swisscom.

Simulation of the stadium atmosphere

To create some atmosphere despite the empty stands, Teleclub is trying to help out with technical tricks. "For that authentic football feeling at home in front of the TV, we are currently working on an audio concept to simulate the stadium atmosphere," Teleclub sports director Claudia Lässer tells the SonntagsBlick.

In addition, the kick-off times will presumably be adjusted so that all games can be shown on TV and there are no overlaps. However, the league will only provide definitive information on this in the coming week.

Players and TV viewers challenged

Either way, footballers - and fans in front of their TV sets at home - are likely to have tough weeks ahead. 13 rounds are to be played in six weeks. In addition, the Swiss Cup is to be completed on the fly in August.
