Tagi Editor-in-Chief Judith Wittwer moves to Süddeutsche Zeitung

Judith Wittwer, Editor-in-Chief of the Tages-Anzeiger, will become Editor-in-Chief of the Süddeutsche Zeitung in Munich. Information about her successor at the Tages-Anzeiger will be provided in due course.

Wittwer has decided to take on a new challenge and will join Süddeutsche Zeitung in summer 2020. Together with the current Editor-in-Chief Wolfgang Krach, she will head the editorial team of the largest subscription daily newspaper in Germany.

Judith Wittwer began her journalistic career after completing a Master's degree in International Relations at the University of St. Gallen HSG in 2002 at the Tages-Anzeiger in Zurich. She completed her traineeship and part-time diploma training at MAZ - The Swiss School of Journalism, later worked as a business editor and was a correspondent in Germany before moving to the Background and Analysis department. From 2011 to 2014, she was the business editor for the Handelszeitung of the Axel Springer media company. In 2014, Judith Wittwer returned to the Tages-Anzeiger where she headed the staff department of the editor-in-chief and worked as head of news. In 2016, she became a member of the editorial board of Tages-Anzeiger and Sunday newspaper, she has been editor-in-chief of the Tages-Anzeiger since the beginning of 2018.

Judith Wittwer has developed the Tages-Anzeiger in recent years, including the introduction of "Page Three" with reports and investigations and the strengthening of the Opinion section. Under her leadership, the Tages-Anzeiger also expanded the regional offering. In terms of strategy, Judith Wittwer drove forward various cooperations, including the collaboration in place since 2017 between the Tages-Anzeiger and the South German Newspaper.

I will remain connected to the 'Tagi', to which I owe almost my entire career," says Judith Wittwer.

The succession plan at Tages-Anzeiger as of summer 2020 will be communicated at the appropriate time.
