SRG orders up to 2500 employees to work from home

The Swiss radio and television company SRG has ordered some of its employees to work from home to protect themselves from the corona virus. Up to 2,500 of the total of around 7,000 employees will have to work in their home offices from next week.

The order of the SRG management on Thursday is valid for the time being until April 5, as the SRG announced in the evening. The step was taken to protect employees and the performance mandate.

The home office applies to around 30 percent of the workforce, said an SRG spokesperson in response to a request from the Keystone-SDA news agency. Among others, editors as well as administration staff are affected.

For the SRG, the health protection of employees and the maintenance of the performance mandate have the highest priority, the statement says. The concession stipulates that SRG has a service mandate in times of crisis, must ensure this and therefore the necessary organizational and technical measures must be taken.

With the mandatory home office for that part of the employees who would not necessarily have to be present on site, all other employees who would have to work at an SRG site to fulfill the performance mandate would be better protected. (SDA)
